Acadia National Park is one of our favorite vacation spots, and we've been here every couple years for over 12 years. Q and T both started hiking here as puppies and even Kahlua and Tina have been here as well.

"As National parks go, Acadia is posh. The wealthy families that flooded the island in the late 1800s brought a lot of cash. And when it came time to assemble Acadia National Park, no expense was spared. Hiking trails were paved with exquisite hand-cut stones; the Park Loop Road was designed by America's leading landscape architect; and John D Rockefeller, Jr. personally commissioned a network of roads through Acadia for horse-drawn carriages!"

--from Acadia, The Complete Guide by James Frasier.

Not only is Acadia beautiful, well-maintained, and with plenty of hiking, biking and riding trails, it's one of the most dog-friendly places to vacation. Dogs are allowed on all trails but a few of the most extremely strenuous ones, they are also welcomed in most shops in Bar Harbor and even a number of nice restaurants.

We have always taken an RV or travel trailer and stayed in a local campground that has a great view of the bay right from our site. We spend the days hiking and nights strolling thru town, shopping and visiting our favorite ice cream place.
